I'm a passionate acrylic painter, specializing in landscapes and seascapes. I'm also drawn to the abstract and mixed media challenges they offer. Recently, I've been exploring collage as a new creative outlet. My goal is to continuously push my artistic boundaries and grow as a painter. The talented artists in the Sun City Art Club inspire me daily. My furry companion, Kal, and I have called Palm Desert home for a couple of years now. This beautiful area provides endless inspiration for my work. I'm excited to continue creating and honing my skills in the years to come. I am a native of Southern California who was raised in Alhambra in the western San Gabriel Valley region of Los Angeles County.
A lifelong passion for art education has shaped my career and personal pursuits. After teaching elementary school in Los Angeles for nearly four decades, I dedicated myself to fostering a love of art in my students. By integrating art into all subjects, I created a dynamic and engaging learning environment. My innovative approach to teaching American history with art earned me a National Teacher of the Year Award in 1980. Throughout my career, I received numerous accolades for my excellence in art education, including recognition from the Los Angeles Music Center and the BRAVO Award Gala.
Upon retirement in 1999, I transitioned to a full-time painting career. My artistic journey has taken me on numerous painting trips, and my work has been exhibited nationally. In addition to painting, I enjoy gardening, sports, reading, photography, and spending time with my grandchildren.
Art has been a constant source of fulfillment in my life. Whether inspiring young minds or creating my own works of art, I find great joy and satisfaction in exploring the beauty of the natural world and sharing my passion with others.
